Peter led the management buyout of Alpha Associates from Swiss Life in April 2004 and leads the strategy and operations of Alpha Associates. He has a strong track record and reputation as an M&A, corporate finance and legal advisor and draws upon a broad relationship network in Switzerland and abroad.
Peter is a founding partner of Alpha Associates and prior to the team’s spin-out from Swiss Life Private Equity Partners (SLPEP) was a member and delegate of the board of directors of SLPEP and responsible for the operations of the company from May 2003 to April 2004. After starting his career as an attorney-at-law, Peter held several positions with Credit Suisse, where his last assignment was as Chief Financial Officer and Head of the Corporate Center at Credit Suisse Private Banking. Earlier appointments include Managing Director and General Counsel of Credit Suisse Group and Head of Legal and Tax at Credit Suisse First Boston (Europe) in the early 1990s. Peter holds a Ph.D. in law from the University of Fribourg and a Master of Laws from Northwestern University, Chicago.
Petra oversees a range of operational matters at Alpha Associates and is responsible for the structuring and raising of Alpha’s funds-of-funds and investment programs, investor relations and marketing. Petra has been active in private market investing since 2001 and has a long track record in negotiating and executing fund investments, direct investments and secondary transactions in Europe, the U.S. and the Emerging Markets, as well as structuring client vehicles to meet specific client needs.
Petra is a founding partner of Alpha Associates and prior to the team’s spin-out from Swiss Life Private Equity Partners (SLPEP) was Chief Operations Officer of SLPEP. Previously she was the legal advisor to the private equity team at Bank Vontobel and a consultant for M&A at Helbling CFT International Ltd. in Düsseldorf and Zurich, where she structured and coordinated cross-border transactions of mid-sized companies. Petra is admitted to the New York Bar and holds a Master of Laws from New York University. She graduated from the Law School of the University of Vienna and received a Ph.D. in law from the University of Basle.
Petr heads the investment team and is responsible for the asset allocation, investment strategy and execution of all private equity, private debt and infrastructure funds-of-funds and investment programs managed by Alpha Associates. He has sourced, led, evaluated, negotiated and executed private market investments in Europe, the U.S. and the Emerging Markets since 1998 and serves on the advisory boards of many funds. Petr has a rich network of relationships in the global private equity, private debt and infrastructure investment community.
Petr is a founding partner of Alpha Associates and prior to the team’s spin-out from Swiss Life Private Equity Partners (SLPEP) was Chief Investment Officer of SLPEP. Prior to this he was a member of the private equity team at Bank Vontobel focused on Central & Eastern Europe and worked in investment banking at UBS in Zurich and London, where he was engaged in corporate finance transactions for financial institutions in Emerging Markets. He began his career as a civil engineer in the construction industry and later on worked for American Appraisal, a worldwide valuation consulting firm, in Prague. Petr holds a M.Sc. degree from the Czech Technical University of Prague and an MBA from the Simon School of the University of Rochester.
Jürg heads the Finance & Controlling team and is responsible for the financial accounting and reporting for all funds-of-funds and investment programs managed by Alpha Associates. He also oversees the financial matters of affiliated companies within the Alpha Associates Group.
Jürg joined Alpha Associates in 2018 from Itaú Private Bank Switzerland where he was Head of Finance. Previously, he worked for more than 10 years as Senior Manager at Ernst & Young and as Manager at PwC, serving local and international banks as well as asset managers. He holds a Master’s degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Zurich. Moreover, he is a Swiss Certified Public Accountant.
Guy has been active in private equity investing since 2000 and specialises in buyout and venture investments, including in life sciences and medical technology. He is responsible for the due diligence, negotiation, execution and management of fund and direct investments with a geographic focus on the U.S. and the Emerging Markets.
Guy joined Alpha Associates in 2004 and prior to the team’s spin-out from Swiss Life Private Equity Partners (SLPEP) was investment manager at SLPEP since 2000. His previous assignment was with Centre Solutions Zurich, an Alternative Risk Transfer specialist and a subsidiary of Zurich Financial Services. Prior to this, Guy spent four years at UBS in Switzerland, predominantly in business analysis and controlling functions, first at the European operations level, and later at the global level for the corporate banking and corporate finance divisions. Guy holds a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences from the University of Sussex, an MBA from Manchester Business School and is a CFA Charterholder.
Daniela has been active in private market investing since 2004. She is responsible for the due diligence, negotiation, execution and management of fund investments with a stage focus on buyout investments and private debt strategies and a geographic focus on Europe and the U.S.
Daniela joined Alpha Associates in October 2004 from family office Luserve, where she was an investment manager focusing on alternative investments and a member of the investment committee responsible for strategic and tactical asset allocation. Prior to her engagement at Luserve, she was a director at Millennium Associates, a boutique M&A company serving the global financial industry. Previously, Daniela spent three years at UBS in Switzerland, where her last assignment was to evaluate and execute projects for the bank in the global private banking and institutional asset management division. Daniela holds an Economics degree from the University of Zurich.
Henry has been active in private market investing since 1992. He is responsible for the due diligence, evaluation, execution and management of fund investments, secondary transactions and direct co-investments in Central & Eastern Europe and Russia/CIS and serves on a number of fund advisory boards in the region.
Henry joined Alpha Associates in September 2008 from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), London. As Senior Banker at EBRD, he helped build EBRD’s private equity fund investment program into the largest in the CEE and CIS region and participated in a number of groundbreaking transactions in the region, including bank privatisations and turnarounds. In addition to his managerial and transactional responsibilities, he oversaw EBRD’s private equity performance data collection and analysis as well as the co-investment program between EBRD and its portfolio funds. Henry holds a B.A. and a M.Sc. from McGill University and the London School of Economics.
Aruna is a Principal at Alpha Associates and heads the legal team. She is responsible for all legal, structuring, tax and regulatory matters of the private equity, private debt and infrastructure funds-of-funds and programs managed by Alpha Associates.
Aruna joined Alpha Associates in April 2008 from the Bar. Previously, she spent three years as an associate at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in the London and Beijing offices, where she worked on mergers and acquisitions, financings and tax matters. Aruna is a UK qualified Barrister and Solicitor and completed her undergraduate degree at Magdalen College, Oxford.
Nicolò is a member of the investment team and has been active in infrastructure and private equity investing since 2008. He responsible for the due diligence, evaluation, execution and management of infrastructure and private equity fund investments and secondary transactions. His focus is on brownfield infrastructure and private equity buyout investments.
Nicolò joined Alpha Associates in 2008. Previously he was a senior underwriter at Atradius Credit Insurance NV in Milan, Italy, a global leader in credit insurance services. Earlier in his career, he worked at the syndication desk of Caboto-Banca IMI. Nicolò holds a Master of Science (MSc) in finance and economics from Bocconi University in Milan.
Giovanni has been active in private equity investing since 2000 and acts as senior investment advisor to Alpha Associates. He is responsible for the due diligence, evaluation, execution and management of fund and direct investments as well as the sourcing, evaluation, pricing and negotiation of secondary market transactions. His focus is on venture, growth capital and buyout investments in Europe and the U.S.
Giovanni joined Alpha Associates 2004 from SLPEP, where he was a principal in the investment team. He relocated to Hong Kong in 2001 for a year to establish and develop the Asian activities of SLPEP. Giovanni was formerly based in Singapore as a senior analyst for Banque Cantonale Vaudoise. He started his professional career as a portfolio manager with Credit Suisse in Switzerland. Giovanni holds a Master of Science (MSc) in economics from HEC Lausanne.
Peter is a Principal at Alpha Associates and heads the compliance team. He has been active in private market investing since 2005. Peter is responsible for the risk management and compliance of Alpha Associates and acts as company secretary.
Peter joined Alpha Associates in February 2010. Previously Peter was a private equity investment professional at Horizon21, a Swiss investment manager. Peter started his career at Alpha Associates in 2005, as a member of the investment team, first as Analyst and later as Associate. Peter is a guest lecturer on private equity and member of the managing board of the Swiss Association of Investment Companies. Peter graduated from the University of Zurich and holds an M.A. in Economics and an LL.M. from the University of Münster, Germany.
Christopher is a member of the investment team and has been active in private debt and private equity investing since 2008. He is responsible for the screening, analysis and assessment of private debt strategies and market segments and the due diligence, evaluation, execution and management of private debt fund investments in Europe and the U.S.
Christopher joined Alpha Associates in 2008. Earlier in his career, Christopher was a credit analyst in the proprietary & flow trading units of the fixed income division of UBS Investment Bank in London. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in business and economics from the University of Basel and a Master of Science (MSc) in international business and economics from the Stockholm School of Economics.
James is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alpha Associates. He was previously a Managing Director and Global Co-Head of the Private Funds Group (PFG) at UBS Investment Bank. Having joined SG Warburg in 1994, which became part of what is UBS today, he co-founded PFG in 1998. It rapidly became a global leading specialist in capital raising for private market strategies. He retired from the bank at the end of 2017. Today he dedicates much of his time to providing strategic and financial support and advice to environmental technology start ups. Prior to finance James served as an officer in the British Army from 1982-1990. He completed the military service as a Captain with the 2nd Battalion Coldstream Guards. He then established and ran an oilfield services company in the Republic of Yemen providing security services to oil majors through and until the outbreak of civil war at the end of 1993. He is a graduate of Exeter University and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
André Kuy is Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alpha Associates. He has been a partner of the law firm Luchsinger Kuy Rechtsanwälte since 2013, and prior to that, an attorney at law and CEO of a corporate law firm in Zurich. From 2004 to 2011, André was chancellor for the city of Zurich. He has an extensive track record in economics, politics and social issues, and has been the president of the Chamber of Commerce Switzerland-Israel. In addition, André was a member of the welfare authority of the city of Zurich from 1994 to 2002, and of the municipal council of the city of Zurich from 1982 to 1990. André holds a Master of law as well as a Ph.D. in law from the University of Zurich, and an Executive Master of Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Berne.
